When Should you Update your Will?
How often should you review and update your will and other estate arrangements?
There are some set requirements, such as, after you:
- Get married
- Get divorced
- Buy assets in a different estate jurisdictions (buy assets overseas)
- Move to Queensland or elsewhere
If you are unsure whether you should update your will you can email Ascendia Lawyers and we will be able to assist you.
Buying, Starting, Expanding, or Changing your Business?
If you take control of, or ownership over, assets or business through business entities and agreements our lawyers also recommend a review to ensure that in the event of your death the benefit of these assets can pass to your intended beneficiaries.
A will is usually ineffective in dealing with business entities - in fact it fails totally to deal with any asset not owned in your name personally. We normally use other means, in addition to a will, to deal with control, or ownership of, assets through business arrangements.
Our will lawyers can explain what is needed in your individual circumstances and can provide a fixed-fee quote for estates advice and the documents needed.
